This folk song is based on the traditional greeting to the Sabbath bride. In the first published version of this song (Vilna, 1938) there were only verses, without the interlude nign. According to Chana Mlotek, it was American singers who added the “chiri-bim” chorus, borrowed from the song “Nisim” (Miracles) published by Judith Eisenstein in “Heritage of Jewish Music.”
